Mariza Pereira is the force behind Kalunga Law—an unapologetic advocate, skilled litigator, and no-nonsense strategist who turns legal chaos into clarity. Licensed in Maryland and Washington, D.C., she brings over a decade of experience in family law, immigration, and global investigations, earning a reputation for handling complex, high-stakes cases with power, purpose, and precision.
Before launching her own firm, Mariza served as an investigator at the World Bank’s Integrity Vice Presidency, where she uncovered fraud and corruption in international development operations and reported her findings directly to executive leadership. She has a sharp eye for truth and a fearless voice when it matters most.
Mariza earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she received the prestigious Thornburgh Award for Excellence in Government and Legal Service. While in law school, Mariza sharpened her advocacy through hands-on work with the Immigration Law Clinic, the Prisoner Legal Support Project, and a pioneering medical-legal partnership alongside Dr. Diego Chaves-Gnecco, founder of Salud Para Niños. These experiences deepened her commitment to protecting the rights of immigrants, incarcerated individuals, and underserved families—long before she ever set foot in her own courtroom.
In 2025, Mariza was named a Fellow of the Bar Association of Montgomery County’s Leadership Academy. There, she collaborated with colleagues to design and implement a community service project on life planning—offering a “Life and Legacy Workshop” and a CLE program to elevate access and education around legal preparedness.
